Security operatives in Mubende district are hunting for a UPDF soldier, who shot dead his wife this morning.
The incident, according to the police, occurred at 10 am, at Kikoona village in Mubende town council.
Ndamanyire Charles, the officer in charge of criminal investigations at Mubende police station, identifies the suspect as Sgt Byamukama Jackson, attached to Kawadisa, also known as Causality barracks.
Byamakuma this morning shot his wife Atananyi Annet twice this morning killing her instantly.
Ndamanyire declined to give further details saying a man hunt is already underway.
But according to the residents of Kikoona village, who preferred not to be named, the deceased yesterday developed misunderstands with her husband over money and the two quarrelled through the night.
In the morning, Byamukama is said to have gone back to the barracks, from where he returned with a gun and shot his wife to death.
Another resident however said the soldier believes his wife had been unfaithful.
The body of the deceased has been taken to Mubende hospital.
Police backed up by the UPDF of soldiers are looking for Byamukama believed to have hidden in a nearby bush.
There have been at least two incidents before of soldiers killing their wives here.
Elsewhere, Uganda police officer and UPDF officers have been arrested and charged for killing their wives.
On April 18th 2008, the Assistant Superintendent of Police, James Peter Aurien, who was the police commander for Mukono district shot his 24-year-old wife Christine Apolot and killed her.
