Unidentified Gunmen Shoot one in Ssembabule

Unidentified gunmen have shot dead John Kabyamira, a resident of Njaza Village in Lugusulu Sub County in Ssembabule district. Kabyamira is a step son to George Kikere, a prominent herdsman in Ssembabule. It is suspected that the gunmen raided Kikere’s home on Sunday night with intentions of killing him but he was not at home during the attack.

They instead turned their gun on Kabyamira who was watching television inside the house. Kikere’s neighbors say that they heard the assailants asking for him followed by gunshots. John Kiseka, one of the residents says they rushed to see what was happening and found Kabyamira bleeding. He says they tried to rush Kabyamira to the neighboring health center to save his life but he died on the way as he had lost a lot of blood.

Noah Sserunjogi, the Southern Regional Police Spokesperson says they have recovered bullet shells from the crime scene, which he says will help their investigations into the murder. He also says they have a started a manhunt for the assailants until they are brought to book. Gun related crimes have been common in Masaka region in the past few months. The recent incident occurred early last month, when unidentified gunmen attacked a business woman at Kyabakuza trading center and shot her to death.
