UK Based Ugandan Activist Wins Khan Media Community Award
A Ugandan based in the United Kingdom, Richard Semitego, has scooped the Khan Media Community Award 2016, Red pepper can exclusively reveal. According to the award organizers, the accolade is meant to applaud him for his community work in London and around the globe. The award mainly focuses on individuals who help the less fortunate people in our community.
Ssemitego has been deeply involved in volunteering with the British Red Cross, feeding the homeless and many other community based activities across London.
Upon his decoration, Richard Said,”It takes courage for someone to stand and speak up for the voiceless. And, it takes courage for someone to give a hand up to the weak. You don’t need money to speak out for the voiceless or to inspire someone. Doing little things to help those in need of our support -can make a big difference in their lives.”
This award is given to one individual every year for his/her community engagements. It is organised by Khan Media Group who have been giving out similar awards since for the last six years.
