UBC Hailed For Being Developmental

The Managing Director of Uganda Broadcasting Corporation UBC Mr. Paul Kihika has commended the registered members of the Uganda Broadcasting Corporation Listeners Association for being patriotic with focus at supporting government programs and policies in promoting prosperity for all.
Kihika extended the appreciation while meeting representatives of district leaders of the UBC West Listeners Association at Lake View Resort Hotel Mbarara where a range of issues were discussed including the digital migration broadcast.
He was optimistic that with over nine million registered meters of UBC West registered members who started way back when it was branded Radio Uganda blue channel have a numerical strength that deserves economic training in financial management as members look forward at reviving the SACCO.
Kihika encouraged the listeners to get linked to the NAADS program and be able to get sensitized in simple skills in the management of fighting the banana bacterial wilt disease which they have on agenda of developmental work plan in the association strategies.
On revival of the UBC West Listeners Association SACCO, Kihika commended the members for approving President Yoweri Museveni as their patron, advising them to approach the Uganda Micro Finance Support Centre and Rural Finance Services Program for sensitization programs to improve to be able create services for savings and borrowing with association SACCO to fund income generating activities to eradicate poverty.
Kihika assured UBC listeners that government is aware of the fluctuation broadcast signals for television and radio in shadow areas of Kasese and Kabale due to mountains ranges, saying the signals of both will be solved by commissioning the tower constructed in Omunkombe in Rubirizi district scheduled for official commissioning by the end of this month.
The participants requested that developmental programs broadcast in Runyankole/Rukiga, Rotooro/ Runyoro programs be introduced on UBC television for the local community to benefit from agricultural, micro finance, political and any others instead of concentrating in English, a language that benefits a few leaving out the indigenous communities.
They further requested that President Yoweri Museveni should spare some opportunity of appearing on UBC West after to addressing the nation during delivery of State of nation address to enable the local communities also benefit from the message he delivers.
