Namasagali FC v Saints, Namasagali College
The Saints FC boss Mark Twinamasiko seems to have got his wish to test the strength of his charges as he takes on Namasagali FC in one of the FUFA Big League games at Namasagali College in Eastern Uganda.
It however may turn to be a case of biting more than a chew as his opponents seem to be set after capturing a mixture of former Super and big league experienced players.
Their coach Steven Bogere is splitting fire having recruited the likes of experienced Swaibu Lubega from Mukono, Muwada Makoma (Jinja MC) Mike Segujja (P.D.T, Kasese), veteran Lyonga Brian and John Kamu Obi who formerly played for KCC and Jinja MC whom he believes will be the decisive factor in achieving his first maiden win in the maiden game.
“Saints are a good team there is no doubt about that. They are really serious about their league campaign given the fact that they missed it narrowly last season,”Bogere said.
“But we are also playing with our ambitions. We want to win our first game as it’s the only way of building confidence in the boys and that makes us dangerous. We want to beat the Saints because we really need those morale building maximum points.”
Twinamasiko however believes his team has what it takes to sign in with a victory despite having few injury concerns to his team.
“I am looking for stability. We know nothing about our opponents but I believe we can beat them,” he said.
‘’Tension is high in the camp because of pressure but the boys are physically stable and they are eager to register maximum points because our main objective right now is to win our first game.
However, the 24 year old tactician will have to deal without the defensive duo of Julius Madepi, Geoffrey Bwire and midfielder duo of Moses Okello and Rajab Jooga who have been ruled out to injury.
Twinamasiko however has less to worry as experienced Emmanuel Balyejusa or Umar Mulumba are fit to fill the void left by team skipper Geoffrey Bwire, Robert Kasolo for Moses Okello while Dennis Lukundo will replace right back Julius Madepi
The Mukono based side reinforced their squad with the signing of experienced players like Sam Matovu (Ndejje University), Fred Kyambade (UCU), Dennis Lukundo (Maroons), Keneth Anyama (Simba), Tamale Jordan (Soana), Ismael Mubiru (Kiira young) and Kamada Ndiefi Sebagala a midfielder from Proline.
The Saints who finished a respectable fourth spot finish last season with 30 points, have been bullish in the pre season having won all their build up matches.
A squad comprising of 18 players have today morning travelled by coaster bus to Kamuli district to fetch the season’s first win like it was last season when the club won 2-1 away to VCC in the opener.
