Top Cop In Trouble Over Tourists’ Death

A senior Police cop on the rank of a Commissioner has been cited in shielding Anania Omugabe, the person who recklessly knocked dead an Austrian couple.

Red pepper has learnt that this killer had been known for long but because he had a close relationship with the said top cop, authorities had hesitated to bring him to book not until the Austrian government through its Nairobi based High Commissioner, stormed the office of the Inspector General of Police, General Kale Kayihura, demanding to know the progress of the case.

According to Police sources, the Mubende hospital mortuary attendants who received the two bodies of the Austrian tourists, landed on about $ 50,000 US and instead decided to share it among them on top of stealing the knicker and pant of the deceased.

Upon getting the information, recently, Kayihura summoned the traffic boss, Dr. Stephen Kasiima and the Investigations chief, Grace Akullo, in a meeting that was also attended by the acting Commissioner in charge of Professional Standard Unit (PSU)-Senior Superintendent of Police- one Ewiku, with intent to review the genesis of all the cases related to the whole scenario which are registered vide of references; TAR 91/2014, Mubende -CRB 1911/2014 and file CRB 1937/2014 of theft, respectively.

The deceased were allegedly ridding from Kasese, heading to Kampala, travelling on a motor cycle with customized number plate, CUNJI, a BMW, when they rammed into a Toyota Prado, registration number UAV 624T. Investigations show that one person died on spot and the second one passed on as Traffic Police led by one Muramuzi, were rushing him to the hospital. The deceased were members of the MQ, motorcycling body based in Queensland-Austria.

It’s however not clear whether Police have recovered the knickers and the pants including the $ 50,000 US which were stolen from the deceased after they had died.

When contacted, the Police spokes person Fred Enanga said, they have got clues regarding the key suspect including his photos by they have also laid some strategies to ensure that he is arrested.
