Shaban Sanywa of Kansiime and Company Advocates was nabbed from Bwaise, a Kampala Suburb by court bailiffs of Tuksem Associates.

“Wheras Sanywa who has been brought before this court this July 14, 2014 under a warrant in execution of a court order which was made and pronounced by the said court and by which court order that the said Sanywa should deposit Shs30m and whereas the said Sanywa has neither obayed the order nor satisfied this court, he is entitled to be detained in civil custoday; you are hereby commanded and required to take and receive the said Sanywa into civil prison and keep him imprisoned therein until he complies with the said order,” reads in part the remmande warrant issued by Akankwasa.

The bailiffs first tried to locate him from his home in Nansana but failed because for weeks, he had avoided sleeping there.

It is alleged that Sanywa was given the money by his clent Paul Kyengera to clear a debt and he even acknowledged the receipt of the money but failed to clear the debt for him.

Kyengera had a debt with HMK Mayende Company Ltd which had sued Kyengera through its lawyer Haruna Kagodo. Sanywa mediated the dispute when Kagodo demanded the money on behalf of his Mayende Company and indeed Kyengera paid the money, only for it to be kept by Sanywa without delivering it to Kagodo.

When Kagodo was arrested over the same debt, he presented the receipt showing that Sanywa had received this money to hand it over to Kagodo prompting them to release him and go for Sanywa.

By press time, he had boarded the prison bus. Sanywa zealously defended Poteri highlighting the torture he underwent after he was arrested and he was slated to appear on his behalf today (Tuesday) at Buganda Road court as the trial resumes.

    1. Me too, am confused! What’s the meaning of the words: obayed and custoday? ( 2nd paragraph)

      1. me too am here laughing look at this:”Wheras…, before this court this July 14, 2014(the grammar hier even how dates are separated by a comma, i mean english is not my mother tongue it is more ok for me to kill the buffaloes but not a press man and so many like this) of a court order which was made and pronounced by the said court and by which court order that the said”, custoday, clent, zealously i have never heard of them, i can not even understand how it started and how he ended up boarding a prison bus. It is very unlikely for someone being quoted with mistakes and also the same mistakes appear after the quotes.
