TIT FOR TAT!!! Prof Ddumba Moves To Axe Prof Mamdani

Makerere University Vice Chancellor Prof John Ddumba Ssentamu has placed himself at centre of university administers that want to see Makerere Institute of Social Research (MISR) Executive Director Prof. Mahmood Mamdani  knifed.

Prof Ddumba is working to block the reappointment of Prof Mamdani after learning that the latter has been shortlisted for the job.

Ddumba has penned a letter to the university’s appointments board Chairman, Mr Bruce Balaba Kabaasa arguing that Mamdani who has clocked the retirement age, 70 shouldn’t be re-appointed.

This could be as result of the bitter relationship between the duo that emerged in April when Dr Stella Nyazi, a relative to Prof Ddumba undressed protesting what she called Mamdani’s dictatorship.

As the battle between Prof Mamdani and Dr Nyanzi raged, the former issued a statement pinning the vice chancellor.

Madmani argued that Vice Chancellor was involved in encouraging, fomenting and prolonging insubordination of both Dr. Nyanzi and a few graduate students of MISR, all of who were increasingly being emboldened by what they see as the support towards their cause from the highest office in this institution.

He also argued that Prof Ddumba should be investigated after allegations had been presented to the Appointments Board over Vice chancellor’s case against the PhD programme at Makerere Institute of Social Research and the renewal of his contract.
