Teachers Arrested In Mbale For Defiling Minors

Two teachers in Mbale District have been arrested for allegedly defiling four pupils of Lubembe primary school ,where they both teach.

They are 56-year-old Richard Wangolo and 43-year-old Herbert Mulongo.

The teachers were arrested after one of their colleagues tipped the chairperson of the Parents’ Teachers’ Association (PTA), about the affairs between the teachers and their pupils.

The four minors are primary six and seven pupils between the ages of 13 -15 years.

According to PTA chairperson Micheal Bulombe, each of the teachers was engaged in a love relationship with two pupils.

He said the affairs with the teacher had affected their concentrate in school as they often engaged in fighting amongst themselves because of the teachers.

Diana Nandaula, the Elgon region police public relations officer says preliminary investigations found that the suspects have been defiling the pupils since the beginning of last year.

Two of the girls have already recorded statements at police and upon interrogation, they admitted to having been defiled by the two teachers.

Nandaula said suspects will be charged with aggravated defilement.

She said the suspects currently being held at Mbale Central Police station will be taken to Mbale regional referral hospital for medical examination.
