Teacher Held Over Death Of Pupil

Joseph Odeke, a teacher at Katakwi Township primary is in trouble in connection with the death of a primary six pupil at the school on Wednesday last week.

13-year-old John Amenio crashed his head on the wall after Odeke pushed him while separating him during a fight with his classmate.

Peter Oduko, the Community Liaison Officer Katakwi district says Amenio collapsed and died at Katakwi hospital where he was rushed for treatment.

Oduko says the teacher was picked up on Thursday in connection with the death of the pupil. Grace Okiror Iporotum, the head teacher Katakwi Township primary school declined to comment on the incident saying he was sick and couldn’t speak to the media.

Angela Atim Emudong, the Katakwi District Education Officer neither picked nor returned calls from our reporter.

Adrian Kwetegyereza, the Katakwi district Police Commander says they first arrested the pupil who was involved in the fight with the deceased but released her on bond. Kwetegyereza says their investigations led to the arrest of the teacher.

Amenio’s body was laid to rest on Friday at his ancestral home in Abela parish in Katakwi sub-county in Katakwi district.

  1. ITS rilly bad for ateacher to do such thing and that kind of punishment ended in the ancent regims now we are in the .com erro,if fell sorry for the parents of the kid.
