The Uganda Cranes first choice goal keeper, Dennis Masinde Onyango has been ruled out of the cranes team that will face Congo Brazzaville in world Cup qualifier match on Saturday.

Cranes head coach Micho confirmed that Onyango is unfit to play against Congo following the injury he contracted during CAF champions’ league finals last month.

“We can’t risk playing him when the doctors are ordering him to rest,” Micho said.

“Between having him for Congo Brazzaville or AFCON finals, I would always choose AFCON. He will be missed but no match is more important than Denis career and life,” he added.

Cranes will now choose among the other goalkeepers in camp including Robert Odonkara who was between the posts in the 1-0 loss against Zambia.

Others are El Merreikh’s Salim Jamal, Benjamin Ochan (KCCA FC) and Ismail Watenga (Vipers)

The match will be played on Saturday at Mandela National stadium, Nambole at 4:00pm local time.
