Sheikh Yunus Kamoga Detained At SIU

The Special Investigations Unit-SIU is holding Sheikh Muhammad Yunus Kamoga, the embattled Amiir of Jamaat Salafiya.

Kamoga was reportedly picked up by detectives from Nakasero Mosque on Tuesday evening and taken to their headquarters.

According to highly placed police sources, Kamoga is wanted for his alleged links to the Allied Democratic Forces-ADF, a rebel outfit.

Kamoga’s arrest came just a few hours after police picked up his brother Sheikh Murtadha Bukenya and Fahad Ddungu.

The arrest of the clerics was prompted by the murder of Mustafa Bahiga, the former Kampala district Amiir of Jamaat Salafiya.

Bahiga was gunned down on December 28th 2014 by unidentified thugs outside Bwebajja mosque along Entebbe road.

Since other suspects who were picked up earlier appeared before Timothy Lumonyo, the Nakawa grade one magistrate on Monday.

They were charged with the murder of Mustafa Bahiga and attempted murder of Sheikh Haroona Jjemba, the rival Amiir Ummah and sent to prison.

On Tuesday, Kale Kayihura, the Inspector General of Police told our reporters at Kabalye police training school that they have 28 suspects in custody.

He explained that, the suspects are being up according to information provided by those in detention.
