Police Hunt for Suspected Serial Killer in Bwaise

Police are looking for a suspected serial killer behind the rape and murder of young girls in Bwaise, a Kampala city suburb. The search follows the recovery of the body of 11-year-old Vanessa Nakajo, a primary two pupil of Kyebando Progressive School on Monday in Bwaise.

The body was found with a deep cut on the buttocks, wounds on the back and neck as well as a loose neck leading to suspicion that she could have been strangled. girls dumped in the area within a space of one month.

The assailant whose identity has been withheld by police is said to have been a client at the drinking joint of Nakajo’s mother is said to have found his victim and her sibling at the well fetching water. He reportedly called her and took her to unknown place.

Patrick Onyango, the Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson says police have already taken vaginal swaps and nail cutting samples which are currently being stored at the government laboratories and will be used in further identification of the suspect.

The recovery of Nakajo’s body, brings to three the number of bodies of young girls. Early this month, police recovered two other bodies of minors believed to have been murdered the same way.

One of the girls, a 7 year old was on 3rd October 2014 found dumped in a pit latrine with her knickers hanging on the left leg. Postmortem report as well as vaginal swaps indicated that she had been raped before being murdered.

Police analyses indicate that the body fluids found in the first two murders are similar but is yet to carry out analysis on the third body.

A serial killer is a person who murders three or more people in a specific period in a similar pattern.
