Kabalagala police are holding one of their own accused of murder. The suspect is Assistant Superintendent of Police Omiel Hamak, the former Officer in Charge of Kira Division.
He is wanted for assaulting Venad Nzabimana with a broken bottle over a woman leading to his death. It is alleged that Hamak found Nzabimana with his lover Olive Nagyera in Wabigalalo market zone in Kabalagala and stabbed him with a broken glass on the neck.
Fred Enanga, the police spokesperson says the victim was rushed to Sure clinic in Wabigabo but he was pronounced dead upon arrival. He says the suspect was arrested while receiving treatment for the injury he sustained during the attack.
He says both Hamak and Nagyera are being held at Kabalagala Police station as investigations into the murder are ongoing. Nagyera is believed to have been in an affair with the two men despite having a husband who is based in Juba south Sudan.
This is not the first time Hamak is conflict with the law. Hamak was suspended a few months ago on charges of bribery. His file has since been sanctioned by the Director of Public prosecution.
