Police Blocks Besigye & His Cow

Police this morning blocked FDC’s Col. Dr. Kizza Besigye from leaving his home in Kasangati to attend a fundraiser meeting with former Makerere University guild presidents at the freedom square.
“Am being blocked from delivering my contribution of Guernsey Cow and Shs3m. Will find a way!! Meantime, let’s open online channels 4 pledges,” Besigye tweeted.
Besigye had threatened to organize a national wide demonstration to force the re-opening of Makerere arguing that its issues are of national interest and should be handled in the interests of the people.
In the processes, he initiated a fundraising campaign to raise Shs28bn which is the amount the academic staff is demanding from the government as incentive arrears for nine months.
According to Dr. Besigye they intend to collect money and any other items that can be auctioned to raise the funds.
Meanwhile others people have accessed the university and are expected to hold the meeting even though their chair-leader has been barred from attending.
“Regardless of where I am, Makerere will be there and Friends-Of-Makerere will be there.” Besigye tweeted.
The University remains closed on the directive of the president after the academic staff went on strike protesting nonpayment of their incentive arrears.
