The FDC National Executive Committee confirms Wafula Oguttu, the new Leader of Opposition to replace Budadiri West MP Nathan Nandala Mafabi.

Wafula was earlier proposed for nomination by FDC party President Maj. Gen Mugisha Muntu during a management meeting at the party headquarters in Najjanankumbi. His nomination was however subject to NEC approval.

He is the FDC Party Spokesperson and Member of Parliament for Bukhooli Central, Bugiri district.

The development comes as a huge disappointment for party Secretary General Alice Alaso, Dokolo Woman MP Cecilia Ogwal, Abdu Katuntu the Shadow Attorney General and Kassiano Wadri the PAC chairman who were all lobbying for the same post.

Cecilia Ogwal however replaces Winnie Kiiza as the Opposition Chief Whip.

FDC with 36 Members of Parliament forms the opposition government in Parliament which gives it the right to appoint main shadow positions. These include Leader of Opposition, opposition Chief Whip, Deputy Opposition Whip and the Shadow Cabinet comprising of 21 slots.
