By Serestino Tusingwire

Police have arrested a man suspected of killing a woman in Nyanama, off Entebbe Road in Rubaga Division, Kampala.

Charles Kato is suspected to have killed his girlfriend Maria Nabilanda and dumped her body near a washing bay.

Her killing comes at the time of spate of murders of women in Wakiso district.

Kato was arrested in a shrine in Nakaseke district, where he had gone to allegedly cleanse himself.

His arrest came after a tip off to the area police that he was hiding in the shrine in Sakabusolo village, Kasangombe sub-county in Nakaseke district.

Kato, a mechanic at Lwadda B Village in Matugga, was living together with the deceased known as husband and wife and the two had two children.

It is alleged that by the time of the murder, the two had developed a misunderstanding over a piece of land. The deceased opted out of the relationship and had hired a room at Masters Inn in Namasuba.

The suspect is now detained at Katwe Police Station.
