The ruling NRM party has put up a UGX 350 Million budget to facilitate activities of its forthcoming Retreat at the National Leadership Institute, Kyankwanzi. The retreat will take place between 6th to 16th February 2014.

David Bahati, the Deputy Government Chief Whip says the 1-week event will be entirely funded by the party and its members. The budget will cover logistical needs for over 300 expected participants.

Bahati says the Caucus will exploit the meeting to review the progress and challenges of the party’s work in all sectors using the Party’s manifesto (2011-2016) as a benchmark. The review will guide the ruling party on areas that need fast tracking. It will run under the theme; “The NRM Manifesto 2010-2016, Progress, Challenges and Opportunities, Bahati adds.

He told a press conference in Kampala today that the retreat will review the progress made by various sectors towards the implementation of resolutions of the last Kyankwanzi retreat, consolidate political unity within the NRM, and address challenges faced by ministries and others.

Bahati noted that the Caucus as resolved in a recent meeting with President Museveni at Entebbe will be receiving a report conducted by scientists on Homosexuality. President Museveni recently states that he would only sign the Anti-Homosexuality Bill after scientific proof that it is a normal behavior.

Evelyn Anite, the NRM Publicity Secretary says that the Caucus meeting in Kyankwanzi will also discuss positioning NRM for 2016 general elections saying that the party will use the opportunity to prepare itself.

She added that the Party will be reflecting on the past primaries and see where they went wrong and how they can solve the problems.
