Muntu Dies In Hoima Clashes

Mugisha Muntu a resident of Rwentale fishing village, Tonya Parish, Buseruka Sub County in Hoima district died after sustaining severe injuries from a tribal clash.

This followed a violent clash between the Bagungu and Alur communities both armed with spears and pangas.

The clash also left three other people with serious injuries.

Muntu was rushed to Kigorobya health center IV where he was pronounced dead few hours after admission.

It is reported that the violence arose from a fight between a Mugungu only identified as Hila and an Alur identified as Yoningom.

The fight occurred last week at Rwentale trading center in Hoima.

Police said that during the fight Hila’s wife was injured leading to severe bleeding and this caused a group of two Bagungu men to avenge for their colleague by attacking Dongoi Richard 20 a fish monger whom they met on the way from trading center.

After the attack, Dongoi was critically injured and was rushed to Hoima hospital where he was also pronounced dead a few hours after admission.
