Coach George Nsimbe’s KCCA FC  beat Sudanese giants El Merreikh 2-0 in the first leg of the CAF Champions League preliminary played in Khartoum Saturday evening .
Herman Wasswa scored the first in the 24th minute before Tony Odur who had to pass a late fitness test made it 2-0 five minutes later.

It was a sweet revenge for Coach George Nsimbe’s team who got eliminated by the Sudanese giants in 2009 on a 2-1 goal aggregate.

The Ugandan champions defended in numbers and came close to making it three in the second half, but two of their attempts bounced off the woodwork. KCCA goalkeeper Salim Jamal also saved a penalty later in the game.
The second leg will be played on February 15 at the Mandela National Stadium, Namboole. A draw for KCCA Fc or even a 1-0 loss will see them qualify for the next stage.
In the other games played in the Cecafa region, Tanzania’s Young Africans beat Komorozine 7-0 in Dar es Salaam, while Kenyan champions Gor Mahia defeated US Bitam 1-0 with Uganda Cranes striker Dan Sserunkuma scoring the lone goal.
