Judiciary in glass cage – CJ Katureebe

Chief Justice Bart Katureebe has expressed fear about the environment the judiciary is working in.
Katureebe while opening a 2-week induction training for 57 newly recruited Grade I Magistrates at Judicial Studies Institute, said the judiciary has a challenge of meeting peoples’ expectations about its work.
According to CJ Katureebe, people don’t expect them to make mistakes, though making a mistake is normal to every human being.
“As judicial officers, we are out there in a glass cage; people don’t expect us to make mistakes,” CJ Katureebe said.
Katureebe however urged the magistrates to administer justice whiling giving out their rulings to ensure that all parties are satisfied.
More so, Supreme Court Justice Esther Kisaakye urged the new magistrates to pay more attention to victims of crime, and help the litigants feel more comfortable in court since many of them are appearing for the first time
