The police in Entebbe have arrested nine people on suspicion of dealing in fake gold.
Dorcus Chibasi, Samson Onyango Wesonga a Kenyan national, Godfrey Kadimba, a security gurad at Rangers Security Limited, Manda Mpoyi Rajiv a Congolese, Immaculate Nsimire a receptionist at Gold Soko Africa Limited and a Rwandan national, Bachigeya Milenge and Hagen sadiki Mustafa Ahongeze-all workers of Gold Soko Africa Limited were arrested from their offices in Entebbe on Tuesday after a tip-off.
Deputy Police spokesperson, Patrick Onyango has confirmed the arrests.
Onyango explained that on June 6, 2018, Adham Eltejani 45, a Sudan national reported a case of gold theft valued at USD160000 (10kgs) at Entebbe Police Station days before an investigation commenced.
“We got a tip-off, moved to the premises of Gold Soko from where we recovered the exhibits,” Onyango said.
Other exhibits include; of 15 and a half rolls of brass rods, a fake gold refinery at gold Soko limited premises in Kiwafu estates Kasanga, horse pipes, brass rods, powder, two pairs of radio communication chargers, motor vehicle registration number UAS 356S, CCTV cameras, trade licenses and stamps among others.
He however revealed that the police is hunting for Patrick Sanvura, a Congolese national, Yusulf Mushamalirwa, Mavula Ndeke Raphael, Guy-Richie Nsoka and Gabby Mukaruka who he said are on the run.
