Eight Die As Two Gateway Buses Collide


Eight people are dead and 33 others injured following an accident involving two Gateway buses along Nimule-Juba Road.

The two buses registration number UAU 251S and UAX 716 J collided at Arapi in Pageri Sub County in South Sudan this morning.

One of the buses was destined for the South Sudan capital Juba, while the other was returning to Kampala according to a local news agency. Patrick Jimmy Okema, the Aswa River Region Police Spokesperson, says the buses collided as the drivers tried to dodge a pothole.

Reports indicate that the drivers of the two buses and their conductors are among those who died on spot.
