Morocco coach Herve Renard masterminded another victory over his former team

Ivory Coast on Friday as a 1-0 win sent the north Africans through to the last 16 in Egypt. Morocco reached the last 16 of the Africa Cup of Nations with a 1-0 victory over Ivory Coast in Group D.

It was a tremendous performance by Morocco, perhaps the best in the tournament so far. They took three points with a wonderful goal twisted by Amrabat, scored by En-Nesyri. Amrabat clips a decent cross into the box. En-Nesyri beats the defender to it but flashes his header wide of the far post from eight yards.

Notably, the points are all that matter and Morocco goes into the final group game without any pressure now they have qualified for the knockout stage.

Morocco needs a point in their final game against South Africa to be assured of the top spot, although Ivory Coast will likely still join them in the knockout rounds as runners-up with a match to come against underdogs Namibia.
