Besigye Reveals How Security ‘Goons’ Whisked Him From Airport, Declares Himself President

Uganda’s opposition kingpin, Kizza Besigye has spoken out for the first time about the events that transpired following his arrival from abroad where he had been holed up for a month.

Besigye, the former opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party presidential candidate described the moment the ‘goons’ as he called them got him out of the plane by his trousers before forcing him into a van and whisking him away at breakneck speed.

“As soon as I arrived at the airport, the goons were waiting for me and were dressed in civil aviation uniform,” Besigye said at a press conference on Monday.

He added, “The goons lifted me and put me in an aviation vehicle and zoomed off like crazy. Then after I was removed from the aviation vehicle and was thrown into a police vehicle. We went through roads that I couldn’t describe until we landed in Namulanda, Kikajo, Nakawuka, Kabojja before heading to Nateete.”

Besigye who is charged with treason rubbished the allegations saying he is instead going to rally Ugandans to with draw their cooperation from what he called ‘impostors.’

“The people who are commuting treason at Museveni and his guns because they’re suppressing the will of the people. What happened today is clear demonstration that there is a president of the people. Now the regime’s role has remained is to make sure the president doesn’t get to his people. I was led by convoys into my home, a clear indication that the president had arrived,” Besigye revealed.
