A bar owner in Bunagana town, Kisoro district has been arrested by Police in connection with the death of his customer.
The suspect, Innocent Ntakyiyende, alongside one of his employees still on the run, are said to have killed Emmanuel Dadayi Munvaneza on Monday night.
According to Police, the incident took place at around 8pm when the deceased went to Innocent Ntakyiyende’s bar and picked a quarrel with the bar owner shortly after arrival.
Sources have revealed that the customer was abused by the bar owner shortly after entering the bar but the reasons behind the quarrel are yet to be known.
An attendant, whose name has been withheld by police, reportedly moved in and stabbed the deceased in the chest before taking off.
Munvaneza died of excessive bleeding as preparations to rush him to the hospital were being finalized.
Shortly after the arrest of the bar owner, angry residents moved in and set on fire the bar from where the crime took place, destroying property worth millions of shillings.
Kigezi regional Police spokesperson Elly Maate told Uganda radio Network that the Police have deployed in the area to calm down the situation and that the hunt for the second suspect is on.
