The Arua Municipality MP, Ibrahim Abiriga who was supposed to appear before the Kampala City Hall Court this morning for mention of public nuisance offense was a no-show.

Abiriga had been summoned by Grade One magistrate Beatrice Khainza to appear before the court today following the emergence of pictures showing him urinating near the Ministry of Finance gate.

Abiriga was represented by a lawyer Usaama Ssebuwufu who told court presided over by Moses Nabende that Col Abiriga had travelled to his constituency in Arua, by the time the summons was issued.

Ssebuwufu pleaded that the matter is fixed on a later date when his client will be able to appear. The two parties resolved that the matter is adjourned to October 25.

Prosecution alleges that on September 25, 2017 along Kyaggwe Road in Kampala city, Abiriga urinated on the fence of the Ministry of Finance.

Abiriga’s act is against Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) maintenance law and order ordinance, 2016.

If found guilty of a public nuisance offence, Abiriga would be liable to a fine of sh40, 000 or imprisoned for 2 months or serve both sentences.
