NRM CEC Approves Todwong as SG, Seninde for Director Mobilisation replacing Late Kasamba

Entebbe – Top organ of the Ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM), Central Executive Committee (CEC) has appointed and approved the membership on Wednesday.

In a Wednesday meeting, Party chairman, President Yoweri Museveni approved Richard Todwong as Secretary-General, Rose Namayanja as Deputy and Barbra Nekesa Oundo as National Treasurer and appointed Former State Minister for education Hon. Rose Mary Seninde as Director Mobilisation.

The fifth meeting of the fourth Central Executive Committee (CEC) held on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at Statehouse Entebbe and presided over by the National Chairperson, H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni discussed and resolved a number of issues,” read the statement.

“Approval of the appointment of Rt. Hon. Richard Awany Todwong as the Party Secretary, Hon.Rose Namayanja Nsereko (Deputy Secretary-General) and Hon. Barbra Nekesa Oundo as the new National Treasurer” added the statement.

The party’s top organ also ‘resolved’ on the nomination and approvals of the Former State Minister for education Hon. Rose Mary Seninde as Director Mobilisation, Training and Cadre Development replacing the late Mathias Kasamba

Kasamba breathed his last on April 27 at Nakasero Hospital in Kampala where he had been admitted for days. He had been elected to present Uganda in EALA’s fourth assembly (2017- 2022). Prior to that, the gallant mobiliser had served as Kakuuto County MP in the 9th Parliament.

It is on a similar note that CEC, on Wednesday, July 7, directed the Party Electoral Commission to initiate the process of expression of interests for the by-election of the EALA representative to replace the late Hon. Mathias Kasamba.

The top organ also tasked the NRM Electoral Commission for the election of the NRM Parliamentary Caucus executive of the 11th Parliament.

In the same meeting – chaired by President Museveni, the Central Executive Committee also approved names of the chairpersons, their deputies and members of Parliamentary Standing and sessional committees of the 11th parliament.

Most notably, this saw the appointment of Workers’ MP Arinaitwe Rwakajara to Chair the Parliamentary Pension Scheme worth UGX257.21 Billion.

The Scheme started in July 2008 under the Department of Finance and Administration of Parliamentary commission with members of the Seventh Parliament and staff who existed in the Commission on permanent and pensionable terms.
