BESIDES AGRICULTURAL RESEARCH, NATURAL HUMAN HEALTH PRODUCTS HAVE BEEN INTRODUCED AT NARO

The National Agricultural Research Organization (NARO) is the apex body for guidance and coordination of all agricultural research activities in the national agricultural research system in Uganda. NARO is a Public Institution established by an act of Parliament, which was enacted on 21st November 2005.
NARO has introduced the use of biotechnology, the use of a living thing or its parts to improve products in different sectors such as agricultural, medical, environmental, forensic and industrial biotechnology.
Beside agricultural research and development, NARO has also introduced natural human health products. For example, profiling active ingredients of Uganda’s medicinal plants for; Anti-inflammation, mosquito repellant, skin regeneration, wound healing and also giving support for domestication and commercialization of the products.
