Uganda has condemned the actions of the army generals in Zimbabwe that resulted with the President of that country Robert Mugabe being placed under ‘House Arrest’.
According to reports, Mugabe, 93, is fine but being kept at home and there are reports several members of his inner circle have been detained and that his wife Grace has fled the country to Namibia.
The military in Zimbabwe has refused to confirm they have carried out a coup instead saying they are reestablishing the revolutionary order after criminals had surrounded President Mugabe.
Uganda’s State Minister for International Relations, Okello Oryem has said Uganda is closely following the developments in Zimbabwe.
Oryem said Uganda continues to recognize Mugabe’s “government (as) the legitimate leadership” and has warned the military against violating Zimbabwe’s constitution.
