Customers who subscribe to several local banks that include among others; DFCU, Stanbic, UBA and Equity bank are in panic after they have been notified to do all the necessary transactions before the end of today, Friday.
Customers, who have issues beyond ATM, would not be helped over the weekend by these banks since they will be upgrading their banking systems.
According to the notice we have seen from DFCU bank, it informs its esteemed customers to stand warned that the bank will be doing a system upgrade from Saturday 21st October to Sunday 22nd and therefore all their branches will remain closed for that period.
The management adds that; “all ATMs will however remain operational to serve except on Sunday between 2:00pm and 6:00pm.”
The management concludes that all branches will reopen for full banking activities on Monday 23rd October, 2017.
On the other hand, Stanbic bank is also facing the same issues. All Stanbic customers have been sent the message telling them to do the necessary transactions as soon as possible since their ATM system will be down on Sunday.
“Dear customer, for a planned system upgrade, our ATMs will be offline from midnight to 2:00pm on Sunday 22nd October. Kindly transact early to avoid inconveniences.”
We have also reliably learnt that Equity bank is facing the same problems and no transactions will take place from today till Monday next week.
The message that has been sent to UBA customers reads thus; “Dear Customer, we apologize for the challenges you may be experiencing with transactions on ATMs, POS machines and online. We are experiencing a technical system glitch. We are working tenaciously to resolve this today. All UBA Branches are open to serve you. For assistance, please call 0800100030/0780142329 or email us on cfcugandaBA, Africa?s Global Bank.”
We are yet to establish why these top banks are facing serious problems at the same time.
“All this is happening exactly one year when BoU closed the now defunct Crane Bank”
