Remove FDC from Kanyamunyu Case, Ssemujju Tells Otto

Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) has described as ridiculous an attempt by two MPs to drag its former presidential candidate Dr. Kizza Besigye into the Kenneth Akena murder case.
Drama ensued at high court on Tuesday when MPs Odonga Otto and Beatrice Anywar cried foul for supporting FDC’s Besigye whose wife stood surety for the murder suspects. They threatened to quit the party and went ahead to warn Besigye to always use an armored vehicle whenever travelling to North.
According to FDC Spokesman Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda, it was not necessary for these MPs to react by dragging Besigye in something that is not political.
“This matter has nothing to do with FDC, because we are not party, we are not accused and we are not the victims.” Ssemujju said.
Ssemujju added that it was also unfair for these MPs to accuse Besigye’s wife Winnie Byanyima of betrayal after she stood surety for the murder suspects who are her relatives.
“Kanyamunyu and co-accused have the right to mobilize their relatives to come and rescue them, infact I do not understand why anyone would have any problem with Winnie going to court to stand surety for her relatives.” Ssemujju said.
