The incarcerated Rwenzururu King Charles Wesley Mumbere and 13 other suspects have today been committed to high court’s International Crimes Division to give way for the trial to start.

Mumbere alongside 152 Rwenzururu royal guards were today morning appearing before Jinja magistrates’ court for mention of charges in relation to Kasese clashes.

These have been in prison since November last year when they were arrested by police accusing them of engaging government forces in the fight that left over 100 people dead.

They are now battling charges including murder; terrorism, attempted murder and aggravated robbery among others.

The trial had been delayed to due to the fact that state was still carrying out investigations into the matter and committal papers were not yet ready.

Other suspects remain under Jinja magistrate’s court pending their charge sheets. High court is yet to set the date for commencement of the trial.

Meanwhile, Jinja high court has set January 13 as the date to decide on Mumbere’s bail application.
