I Am Nobody’s Employee – Museveni
By Serestino Tusingwire
President Yoweri has lashed out at Ugandans saying he’s not their employee or servant but a freedom fighter who followed a clarion call to liberate them.
The President was speaking during the NRM 31st anniversary held at Boma grounds in Masindi.
“I hear some people saying that I am their servant, I am not a servant of anybody. I am just a freedom fighter fighting for myself and my beliefs.” Museveni said.
He made the comments from the perspective that Ugandans often expect to be paid a hefty salary for offering their employment services yet freedom fighters put their lives at stake without expecting any payment.
It’s worth noting that during last year’s presidential campaign, the FDC Presidential candidate, Dr. Kizza Besigye often said that the president should be a servant of citizens who vote for him.
The president also directed the Prime minister Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda to restrict ministerial travel abroad, which is wasteful.
He reasoned out that if these wasteful travels are controlled, the government can save money which can be helpful in boosting the infrastructure.
