Two Cops Gunned Down At The Heavily Guarded Nalufenya

Two unarmed Police officers were last night shot dead as they tried to force their way into Nalufenya police barracks and detention house where they were staying.

It is alleged that the two officers, Simon Niwamanya and Godfrey Wafula, were returning from the nearby town where they had gone for drinking.

When they got into an altercation with other policemen at the barracks, it resulted into the fatal shootout.

“Towards midnight some of our personnel in Nalufenya Barracks breached the barracks regulations and they came back from where ever they had gone beyond the time that they are supposed to be in the barracks.

“They were denied access and some of them went through a shortcut and in that shortcut, they were also stopped and that process there was a scuffle and one or two of them were visibly drunk.

“In the scuffle which we believe was unintentional one of the guards shot and in the process two officers were shot and they died.

“One died on spot while the other died while they were taking him to the hospital,” narrated Samson Lubega, the Kiira Regional Police Spokesperson
