Museveni Off To South Africa
Amid Tension in the Rwenzori region, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has today morning left the country for South Africa.
“I have left for South Africa on a two-day working visit. I will hold bilateral talks with His Excellency Jacob Zuma,” Museveni tweeted today morning.
Recently, President Museveni visited the Rwenzori region dressed in military attire and an AK47 on his shoulder.
The President toured the districts in the Rwenzori region and instructed UPDF’s 2nd Division Commander, Brigadier Peter Erweru and the Rwenzori Regional Police Commander to immediately directed the UPDF and the Police to increase their forces in Bundibugyo district in order to ensure that peace, security and sanity prevails.
With the recent massive killings, President Museveni was expected to be in Kasese District to access the situation.
The recent attack on the Rwenzururu palace saw over 50 Royal Guards killed, 139 detained and 14 police officers put out of action.
