By Serestino Tusingwire
Makerere University students have vowed to petition the minister of education Janet kataha Museveni today over the closure of the university.
This follows yesterday’s directive by president Museveni’s to close the university over the numerous strikes.
The Makerere University guild president Roy Ssemboga said that they want the education minister to explain how the students should be involved in the issue of lecturers when they paid their university dues.
They also want an explanation as to why the president had to order the closure of the university yet it could not solve the lecturers’ issues.
The University academic staff decided to lay down their tools until Shs32bn in allowance arrears for over eight months is paid to them.
