MUK Dons Take Off With University Vehicles

Makerere University lectures have refused to return University vehicles despite the directive to hand in the vehicles and other equipment that belong to the university.

Prof. Ddumba Ssentamu the vice-chancellor on Saturday and Monday, issued letters instructing all staff to return university property by the close of business Monday 7, but no one handed them in.

“All staff should park at estates and works department and handle over keys to the deputy vice-chancellor in charge of finance and administration, except for the vice-chancellor, his deputies, secretary and the bursar, by the close of business on Monday 7,” Ddumba instructed.

This comes a few days after the university was closed on the directives of President Museveni following the academic staff strike.

Meanwhile the security situation at the institution remains beefed up by Uganda police to ensure safety of property as no student is allowed in.
