I don’t Want to Be President — Kayihura
Inspector general of Police Gen Kale Kayihura has denied rumours that he is preparing to take over the seat of his boss, Gen Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
“The talk that I want to become the president is stupid,” said Kayihura while at speaking as the chief runner at the launch of community policing in the three police regions of Sipi, Elgon and Bukedi at Mbale Secondary School over the weekend.
He further said that the allegations are baseless and untrue confirming that; “My ambition is to secure people to an extent that even a chicken must not be stolen.”
There were reports doing rounds on different social media platforms that the 60-year-old Ugandan lawyer, military officer, and policeman plans to vie for the country’s top political office come 2021.
General Kayihura was appointed in 2005, replacing General Edward Katumba Wamala as IGP.
