World Leaders Laud M7 As Israel Promises To Beef Up Uganda’s Security
Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni has received a message from the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, expressing his heartfelt appreciation for the wonderful reception extended to him and his delegation when they visited Uganda in July this year.
“My visit was an opportunity for me not only to officially launch Israel’s return to Africa, but also to publicly reaffirm Israel’s commitment to the ongoing battle against global terrorism, in the spirit of Entebbe,” Premier Netanyahu said.
“We are eager to expand to expand our security and economic cooperation with Uganda, and I believe that establishment of a centre of excellence this year, will be a significant step in advancing this goal. Uganda’s support for Israel in international forums is of great importance to us, as is your facilitating our return to the African Union as an observer State. I look forward to working with you in the years ahead to further strengthen the strategic partnership between Israel and Uganda and to advance our countries’ shared interests,” Premier Netanyahu concluded.
Another message to the President has been received from Pope Francis who fondly reminisces his recent visit to Uganda.
“I am pleased to send cordial greetings and my best wishes to Your Excellency and your fellow citizens. With fond memories of my visit to your country last year, and praying that all in the nation may continue to build a society founded on the principles of true fraternity and solidarity, I gladly invoke upon the people of Uganda, blessings of Almighty God,” the Pope said.
Chinese President, Mr. Xi Jinping, commended President Museveni on his successful State visit to China and observed that the visit served to deepen further the all round friendly and mutually beneficial cooperation between China and Uganda.
“I attach great importance to the development of the China-Uganda relations and wish to work together with Your Excellency, to lift our bilateral relations to new levels,” said President Jinping.
President Pierre Nkurunziza of Burundi highly appreciated the friendly relations that exist between his country and Uganda.
“I seize this occasion to express to Your Excellency, my good appreciation of the quality of our friendly and good relations of cooperation which happily exist between the Republic of Burundi and the Republic of Uganda. I commit myself to work together with you to strengthen them further for the mutual interests of our two countries,” said President Nkurunziza.
In his message to President Museveni, the Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Iyad Ameen Madani, assured him that his organization values its strong ties with the Uganda. He commended Uganda for supporting the OIC and promoting joint Islamic action an objective, he said, for which the OIC was established.
