UCC Finally Bans Importation Of ‘Exploding Samsung Note7’

The Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) has banned the importation of the Samsung Note7 that was recalled early this week.

The commission made this revelation in response to a story by Red Pepper Online that indicated that UCC was undecided despite the global uproar over the

“The Commission has issued a directive to the Samsung country dealer to desist from importing the gadget in question,” UCC tweeted on Friday.

The Note 7 was recalled last month after battery fires, but when replacement phones experienced the same problem, Samsung scrapped the device.

The premium phone, launched in August, was meant to compete with Apple’s new iPhone 7 at the top of the smartphone market.

UCC’s decision comes days after Rwanda Utilities and Regulatory Authority (RURA), announced that it had banned the importation and distribution of Samsung Galaxy Note 7 on the Rwanda market.
