Parliament Grills NHCC Officials Over Irregular Asset Disposal
By Serestino Tusingwire
The parliamentary committee on statutory authorities and state enterprises has again put officials of National Housing and Construction Company to task over the irregular registration and disposal of company assets.
The committee that was considering the Auditor General’s report for the 2014/2015 financial year was concerned that the company’s land was leased by the Uganda Land Commission without the knowledge of the officials while some of the land titles were missing.
The committee that was chaired by Anita Among (Vice chairperson COSASE) yesterday also questioned the officials on why the management of NHCC was not working in tandem with the board of directors.
Parity Twinomujuni, the Chief Executive Director of the company who led the team to the committee could not duly defend himself, but the meeting was adjourned as further investigations into the matter goes on.
