KCCA Breaks Silence Over Deputy ED’s Resignation
By Serestino Tusingwire
Kampala Capital City Authority has spoken out on the resignation of its deputy executive director Judith Tumusiime Tukahirwa.
Tukahirwa who served in the position since December 2012, tendered in her resignation before President Yoweri Museveni, the appointing authority on October 28, 2016.
KCCA’s spokesperson Peter Kauju, confirmed the resignation but said he was not aware whether or not it has been granted yet.
The Authority mouthpiece also denied knowledge of the particular reason for Tumusiime to throw in the towel.
“She handed over her request to resign to the appointing authority; usually it is the president to decide whether or not to grant it, but I am not aware yet if she has been let go,” Kauju said.
According to reports, Tukahirwa decided to quit her office because of what she termed as political interference in the Authority’s technical work.
Kauju said it was hard to deduce, since the deputy ED did not indicate the reason for her exit in her resignation letter, but said time had come for her to step aside.
“Everyone has their own challenges at work, I cannot point out what made her to come to this decision,” he said.
Kauju added, “All in all she has been a team leader, she guided the Authority though her tenure. I believe she is going to be missed.
