Kato Lubwama Case Ruling Set for Friday

By Serestino Tusingwire

Justice Margret Oumo-Oguli  of the high court civil division has set Friday this week to give a ruling on whether to compel Makerere University to join the suit as a party or not.

Habib Buwembo dragged Paul Kato Lubwama, the Lubaga South MP to Court over lack of academic qualification suitable for MP seat.

Isaac Ssemakadde who represented Buwembo asked court to compel Makerere University to be joined in the suit.

He wants court to prompt Makerere University to be joined as the third respondents in the suit so that they can make clarification on issues pertaining Lubwama’s academic qualifications.

The court also heard that Makerere University availed Lubwama’s academic documents to Ssemakadde, save the Diploma certificate awarded to him and Makerere policies regarding its mature age entry examinations.

This, he said will establish whether Lubwama sat and passed before being admitted for Diploma in Music and drama in 1992 at Makerere University.

The police was heavily deployed at the court premises to control Lubwama’s rowdy supporters who drummed while dancing outside court until the court proceedings ended.
