Estther Nassaazi, a woman who camped at Kampala Capital City Authority offices yesterday has been detained at the Central Police Station together with her children for staging illegal protests.
Nassaazi yesterday stunned passersby when she carried a mattress on which she and her children sat in the rain near the entrance to the city authority offices, demanding to speak to the KCCA executive Director about her destroyed market stall.
She claimed that her stall was destroyed and merchandise confiscated during an operation by KCCA enforcement officers at USAFI market in July this year.
The Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago yesterday asked the lady to be patient as he investigates into the matter, but remained camping at the city hall with her children with nothing to eat which forced the police to nab her.
Nassaazi says she was dragged there by officers for unknown reasons and that she and her children have gone without food since yesterday.
The Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson Emilian Kayima confirmed the woman and her children are in police custody.
