Police has suspended Kampala Metropolitan North CID boss Wilbur Wanyama, over tampering with exhibit money.
Wanyama was arrested last Friday and detained at Special Investigations Unit (SIU) in Kireka for tampering with $10,000 exhibit that was recovered from a botched gold deal in Kawempe.
According to Andrew Felix Kaweesi, the police spokesperson, Wanyama have been suspended from the force until cases are resolved.
“We have suspended Wanyama from his duties until his charges are resolved. We arranging for him to appear before the disciplinary court to answer for his charges,” Kaweesi said.
Wanyama is also accused alongside Mr Ivan Musimenta, an operative under the Flying Squad Unit (FSU), for squeezing Shs60m from Omar Muhammad, the fuel dealer.
It is allegedly that Musimenta connived with Wanyama to extort money from Muhammad after having him held in cells for days falsely accusing him of importing fake fuel.
