Farouk Miya Speaks Out On Cranes Triumph
Ugandan Football star, Farouk Miya has spoken out on the Crane’s Sunday triumph paying tribute to God and the country’s fans who flocked the Namboole Stadium to witness history.
Miya bagged the only goal that saw Uganda qualify for Africa’s most prestigious football tournament for the first time in 39 years.
“THANK YOU OH LORD🙏🏾 ThANK YOU ALLAH🙏🏾…Very hard game it is been today but finally we have made it boys👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾..thanks to all the fans that made it to namboole today you were the best I have seen in my life thank you Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) thank you coach Micho and your team…UGANDA WE AT AFCON,” Miya who plays for Belgian side Standard De Liege wrote on his Facebook page hours after the game on Sunday.
The Cranes of Uganda went into the final Group D encounter knowing that only a victory would send them to the 2017 Afcon finals for the first time since 1978.
The Cranes, Burkina Faso, Democratic Republic of Congo, Togo, and Tunisia on Sunday filled the final five 2017 Africa Cup of Nations places that were up for grabs.
They join Algeria, Cameroon, Egypt, Ghana, Guinea-Bissau, Ivory Coast, Mali, Morocco, Senegal, Zimbabwe, all of whom qualified before the final round, and hosts Gabon at the tournament next January.
