‘Deadly’ Baguma granted Bail

Former Kampala Central Police Station boss Aaron Baguma has been released on bail from Kigo Prison where he has been for almost a fortnight.

The Kampala High Court Judge Justice Wilson Musalu Musene this morning granted the police boss who is facing murder charges, a Shs5million cash bail.

His Sureties include the Head of the Uganda Police’s Traffic Directorate AIGP Stephen Kasiima and his two Uncles; Robert Kato and Emmanuel Muhanguzi, have been put on a Shs50 million noncash bond.

Baguma’s bail application was heard by the High Court yesterday, only a day after he was committed to the same court.

During the hearing, Baguma through his lawyers submitted that he is entitled to bail, that he is a serving police officer who has served in the force for five years and has assumed the rank of Superintendent of Police (SP) and took an oath of elegancy, which shows that he will obey any bail terms set by the High court.

In grating him Bail today, Justice Musene ordered Baguma to report once every month until hearing of the case starts on 7th October.

Baguma is accused alongside eight others for murdering Betty Donah Katushabe last year at pine car bond over unresolved debt of Shs.9m which she owed to Ssebuwufu (the prime suspect)
