‘Age Limit Bill MP’ Sekitoleko Denies Bribing Lawmakers With Sugar

The Nakifuma County Member of Parliament, Sekitoleko Kafeero has refuted allegations by his Kilak North colleague, Anthony Akol that he is giving a 50Kg sack of sugar and Shs1million to MPs to support his age limit motion.
He said while on local television station arguing that he did not even attend the meeting that Akol claims members were given bribes.
“I was in Mayuge during the time I am being accused of bribing MPs. I even have evidence,” Ssekitoleko said.
“MP Akol is confusing Ugandans. I’ve never distributed sugar,” he added.
Hon. Ssekitoleko has also threatened to sue Akol if he does not withdraw his statement within 48hours.
“Hon Akol has 48hours to withdraw his statements or I seek legal redress,” Ssekitole threatened.
Last month, Akol claimed that Members who attended the Uganda parliamentarians’ forum on food security, population and development meeting that took place on August, 23 at Crested Crane Hotel in Jinja were given 50kg sacks of sugar and 1million after being sweet-talked by Ssekitole to support his motion.
“After the meeting, Ssekitoleko with the help of the sugar factory manager in Mayuge where we had gone for a tour gave each of us a 50kg bag of Sugar and a Khaki envelope containing Shs.1 million,” Akol said.
