SFC Boss Warns ‘General’ Gashumba Over Anti-UPDF Facebook Post
Self proclaimed Ugandan social media commentator Frank Gashumba has come under fire from one of the Special Forces Command (SFC) officers over a post he made accusing the army of brutality.
Last week, Gashumba made a post on his popular page indicating that he had ordered Uganda Peoples Defence Forces (UPDF) officers from the Military Police unit to hand over keys to boda boda cyclist. According to Gashumba, the Military Police soldiers were clobbering the cyclist who was crying like a baby.
“This is unbelievable!! Today sunday evening, as i was driving around Buziga suburb, i found a boda- boda rider who was crying like a baby and pleading to a military police sodier who was beating him with a stick. He had taken and confiscated his motor bike keys…” Gashumba wrote before adding, “I immediately ordered the sodier (sic) to handover the keys back to the Boda-boda Guy.”
Now, Edson Kwesiga, the head of Plans and Strategy in the elite SFC has warned Gashumba to back off attacking the UPDF saying the institution is bigger than him
“Frank Gashumba, my guess is that your gambling in an area you are not familiar with. So, after police , you think you can equally tarnish the name of UPDF? Our institution is bigger than you Mr Gashumba,” Kwesiga wrote on his Facebook wall on Wednesday afternoon.
Kwesiga’s message speaks volumes about how the army is not ready to allow people water down the gains it has made over the years.
SFC is a specialized component of the Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF) tasked with carrying out specialized missions or operations at a moment’s notice.
